Make Your Apartment Feel Like Home
You’ve just moved into your new Blue Ridge Companies apartment. Now it’s time to make your apartment feel like home. The walls are a blank canvas, ready for you to decorate in your own style. So where do you even begin?
Find a style that suits you. Check out Pinterest, magazines, and stores to find out what kind of style evokes a feeling of home. Think about what you like to do, what makes you happy, and/or what makes you comfortable, and look for things that bring out that feeling. Love to cook? Maybe some cooking-related artwork would liven up your dining room. Or maybe a more abstract piece fits your style. Whatever you find, make a decor board and work with it for a few days to ensure you get exactly what you want.
Shop your style. Maybe you found that perfect piece for your apartment home, but it’s a bit out of the budget. Check discount stores and thrift stores for similar items that evoke the same feeling. It might take a little bit longer to decorate, but you’ll be happy once your apartment finally feels like home.
Find colors that make you happy. Once you’ve found your statement pieces, match with bedding, throw pillows and blankets, and other décor in colors that make you happy. When you return home after a long day, you’ll want to feel happy and calm, so find colors that evoke those emotions. Don’t be scared to pull in bright and/or bold colors if you want.
Bring in nature. Add a plant or two to your home to bring in a little nature. Do your research and find a plant that will fit your lifestyle. Some houseplants are easier to care for than others, so make sure you bring home plants that you’ll be able to care for. Houseplants have been gaining in popularity over the past several years, so much so that the #PlantsOfInstagram has more than 10 million posts!
Find your comfy spot. When you buy decorations and furniture for your new home, make yourself a comfy spot. Whether that’s your sofa, special chair, or some other furniture, you’ll want a place to curl up to read or watch TV.
Bring in your personality. All of the internet searches and Pinterest pins won’t make your home feel like you until you bring in some personality. Add pictures and sentimental items to make your apartment really feel like home.
